Employed by a BHF-funded grant to identify the potential links between eicosanoids and nanoparticle-induced cardiovascular disease. This is in collaboration with the University of the Highlands and Islands amongst other institutes. The studies used a targeted lipidomic approach in complementary cellular and animal models to establish the role of specific eicosanoids in the adverse cardiovascular effects of a carefully chosen panel of combustion-derived nanoparticles (CDNPs)and engineered nanoparticles (ENPs). Additionally this research developed in vitro models to predict the in vivo cardiovascular toxicity of constituents of CDNPs and novel ENPs, and identified novel biomarkers of nanoparticle exposure and toxicity.

Research Techinician - Cardiovascular Sciences Unit, Queens Medical Research Insitute, University of Edinburgh 2015 - 2016

Worked on the EU-funded NanoMILE project researching the mechanisms by which engineered nanomaterials interact with living systems and the environment to develop a universal framework for safe nanotechnology.  Our work package aimed to investigate the in vitro/in vivo effects of selected nanomaterials on the mamallian cardiovascular system, partnered with RIVM in the Netherlands, amongst others.
