Sian completed her first degree at Hull University in 1983. She then went on to complete a combined DPhil and Clinical Psychology training at York University in 1987. Sian’s DPhil thesis examined Eating patterns in normal and clinical populations and this remains her primary area of interest today. Following this she took up a Senior Research Associate appointment at the Psychiatric Research Unit in Cambridge University Department of Psychiatry. During this time she was involved in several treatment studies for patients with eating disorders and became the Head of Psychological Services for patients with eating disorders at Addenbrookes Hospital. In 1991 she was awarded the Isaac Newton Research Fellowship, from Trinity College. Sian began working part-time on the Clinical Psychology training programme at UEA in 1994. In 2013 she became Deputy Programme Director (Academic). Sian is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Senior Research Tutor on the programme. She is also Postgraduate Director for Clin PsyD in the School.
