Academic Background

I qualified as a doctor from University College London in 1991. I trained to be a GP in North London. I spent a year training in research and teaching on the London Academic Training Scheme. I spent 10 years as an inner city GP and lecturer at UCL. I worked on developing undergraduate teaching in General Practice. I am now a General Practitioner in Norwich. 

I am passionate about education. I enjoy facilitating students to achieve their potential and developing new parts of the curriculum.

Currently, I am Head of year 2 of the MBBS. I work with the year 2 module leads to develop the curriculum and assessment material.

I am the Leadership Lead for the Norwich Medical School. In this role I encourage students to generate ideas and leadership projects. The aim is to enable students to gain experience and confidence in leadership to develop future leaders for the NHS. In collaboration with a team from the business school and the hospital trust, we run the leadership curriculum. We run workshops for all students and Student Selected Studies in Year 1 and Year 3. 

I am a project supervisor for students on the Masters in Clinical Education (MClinEd).

I support and supervise a number of other student projects in education and leadership.

I have been a Problem Based Learning tutor for over 10 years. I was the academic lead for Problem Based Learning from 2013 to 2018.

I am trained in coaching. I am a mentor for staff at the University. I am a a school Governor.
