Academic Background

I work as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Norwich Medical school and I am a General Practitioner in Norwich. I am passionate about education. I enjoy facilitating students to achieve their potential and developing new parts of the curriculum.

Currently I am Head of year 2 of the MBBS. I work with the year 2 module leads to develop the curriculum and assessment material in year 2.

I am the Leadership Lead for the Norwich Medical School. In this role I encourage students to generate ideas and leadership projects. The aim is to enable students to gain experience and confidence in leadership to develop future leaders for the NHS. In collaboration with a team from the business school and the hospital trust, we run the leadership curriculum. We have set up Leadership Student Selected Studies in Year 1 and Year 3.

I am, and have been, a PBL tutor for about 12 years. I was the academic lead for Problem Based Learning from 2013 to 2018.

I qualified as a doctor from University College London in 1991. I trained to be a GP in the inner city and then joined a  Clinical Academic Training Scheme. I spent 10 years as a lecturer at UCL where I worked on developing undergraduate teaching in General Practice. I did a master’s degree in medical education and more recently completed an educational doctorate.
