Academic Background

Paul has worked largely in acute and forensic mental health settings both as a clinician and as a manager. He is registered as a clinical specialist in Acute Psychiatry and is trained in Cognative Behavioural Therapy. 

As a Senior Lecturer for the University of East Anglia he teaches on a number of courses, both single and joint honours undergraduate programmes, research masters programmes and pre and post registration specialist programmes. He supervises Doctoral students and sits on a number of interest panels and committees.

Paul has worked on a number of research projects both as part of a team and as Principal Investigator, mainly around his interest of acute and forensic mental health. He has also undertaken commission work for the Welsh Assembly and Scottish Health Board. Paul has presented at international conferences and holds a number of awards. He is the author of several text books on nursing and health related matters, one of which has been translated into Arabic and one into Japanese. Paul as an interest in values-based practice and this is reflected in his work both as a clinician and academic.
