Professional Activities

Naresh has directed executive courses for Barclays Bank, Barclays Solutions, Kingfisher and KPMG.  He has also worked as a consultant for a number of companies including Asda/Wal-Mart, Cambridge Econometrics and PricewaterhouseCoopers.  He was appointed as an External Reviewer of the 2005 National Strategic Plan by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and as an External Consultant on Clustering and Regional Development to a World Bank commissioned study led by Hewitt Associates investigating the development of IT and IT enabled service industries in the South Asia Region (SAR).  Contract value: $US 120,000.  Start-end dates: 04/08 – 08/08.  Naresh currently leads a REF Impact Case on unlocking the potential of business clusters through evidence-based interventions: International impact on trade associations, local government, firms and employees. The impact case team is in the final phase of a 3-phase, 5-year project that consists of significant evidence-based interventions which have transformed interaction, collective action and strategy in the Norwich financial services cluster thereby affecting 66,000 employees producing GVA of £5bn. A programme of research over more than two decades by Pandit and co-authors provided evidence on what actually works to promote “clusters” (geographic concentrations of interconnected firms and institutions). This evidence has guided the interventions of the UEA team since 2016. In the third and final phase, the method derived from the research is being rolled-out to other clusters: (i) the engineering and manufacturing cluster in East Anglia; (ii) the Abu Dhabi financial services cluster; and, (iii) the Luoyang Science Park cluster in China.
