James worked as a tutor for several years while undertaking further private study; before joining the School of Computing Science as a lecturer in 2018. Prior to his academic career, James worked as a tailor, assisting in the construction of bespoke suits for celebrity clients and Hollywood productions.

Academic Background

Dr. James Mapp Joined the School of Computing Sciences as a student in 2006, studying towards a degree in Applied Computing (Ecology and Conservation) before transferring to an integrated Masters of Computing degree.  After a short absence James return to complete a Ph.D. relating to Machine Vision and Stock Management (Fisheries). During this time James worked alongside scientists at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) at Lowestoft, publishing a number of papers with colleagues therein.
