Biography

I am on Study Leave from 1st January to 30th June 2019. During that period I will suspend my normal office hours and will offer revised office hours from 1st July 2019.

Biography

I joined Norwich Business School (NBS) at the UEA in June 2013 as a Senior Lecturer in Business and Management, with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability. I am member of the Responsible Business Regulation Group and held the post of Group Co-ordinator for the Business Regulation Group until December 2014.  In January 2015, I took over as the Programme Director for the Undergraduate Programmes across Norwich Business School. I completed my term of office in that role on 31st December 2018. In July 2019, I will be resuming Group Co-ordinator role for the Responsible Business Regulation group. I am a member of the UEA's Centre for Competition Policy and the Tyndall Centre.

My research interests and expertise lie in a number of core areas:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility and business ethics;
  • Sustainability;
  • Climate Change, Environmental, and Energy Policy;
  • The 'Green Economy';
  • Public Policy-making and Governance, particularly in the European Union;
  • Regulation/de-regulation;
  • Business Lobbying Behaviour.

Since 1996, I have been an active member of the world’s largest group of scholars and policy practitioners concerned the European Union called the University Association of Contemporary European Studies (UACES). I was elected to be UACES Committee Member (2006-2013) and held one of the Officer posts, namely, Treasurer (2007-2010). As a leading member of this society, I have jointly run three research groups, a UACES funded Study Group (2006-2008) and a UACES Collaborative Research Network (CRN) (2009-2012) both of which have been focused on EU sustainability policy. The most recent UACES CRN (2015-2018) that I have co-convened with colleagues at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico) and the University of Maastrict (Netherlands) has members based in about 10 different countries who carry out research in a number of disciplines (including political science, economics, law, environmental studies, and management studies) and who focus on European Energy Policy.

Before coming to NBS, I previously worked as Senior Lecturer in CSR at the University of Bradford, where I also held the post of Head of Group for the Strategy, Economics and International Business Group and was also Director of Studies for the Doctoral Programme. Prior to working at Bradford, I was a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia in the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE), having previously trained and worked as a teacher in the Sixth Form and FE/HE College sector and as a chartered accountant in London.

I took my PhD in Government at the University of Essex which has consistently been the top ranked department of Politics and Government (in the RAE/REF) in the UK since the early 1990s.
