Joel’s formal training was as an accountant specializing in Real Estate Management, Business Start-up and later into Venture Capital work.  After training he went onto a well-known stockbrokerage firm in the City of London working in Gilts, before finishing up in Investment Banking with one of the ‘Big-four’ banks working in their Private Clients investment business.  After working as a researcher on a Government sponsored ‘Finance and Development Project’ he defended his thesis on Financial Sector Development and Economic Growth at the Victoria University of Manchester.  Post-doc he taught Econometric Theory, Contemporary Macroeconomics and Applied Econometrics at Bristol University before coming to Norwich.
