Biography

Georgia joined the Centre in November 2011, to begin an ESRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship, working with Professor Margaret O’Brien on a project entitled: ‘Utilising fathers’ narratives to inform interventions for supporting separated parents’. Her doctoral thesis was a qualitative sociological study of fathering after separation and divorce. Georgia then worked on another ESRC funded project, looking at care planning for looked after children, and the role of the Independent Reviewing Officer. From 2014 -2017 Georgia worked as a senior researcher on a two year Nuffield funded project on men's experiences of the child protection system, involving a qualitative longitudinal study of 35 fathers and father figures. Georgia is now a Research Fellow in the Centre for Research on Children and Families and is currently working on another two year Nuffield funded project of the scale, pattern and dynamics of fathers in recurrent care proceedings.
