Francis is a Lecturer in Education for the Secondary PGCE at UEA. He is a chemistry-specialist teacher of science and teaches secondary science PGCE students. He also teaches on the Professional Development strand of the secondary PGCE course. Here, in addition to leading seminars, he has delivered lectures on ‘Professionalism and Teacher Identity’; and ‘Key Stage 2 to 3 Transition’. Francis has also delivered a lecture on ‘Key Stage 3 Science’, looking at the transition between primary and secondary science, to UEA’s primary PGCE cohort of trainee teachers.
Management responsibilities on the secondary PGCE course include Quality Assurance, NQT Coordination, and Resource Development. For 2018-19, Francis will jointly lead as Course Co-Director for the secondary PGCE, alongside Amanda Bell.

Academic Background

Francis completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Sussex in 2009, where he achieved a First Class MChem (Hons) degree. He then completed an MS degree at New York University in 2011.
