My current research is on the challenge of modelling and forecasting fog. The main goal of the project is to improve the prediction of fog using the Met Office’s Unified Model. My research has focused on the verification of both kilometre and sub-kilometre scale numerical weather prediction models using data from the Local and Non-Local Fog Experiment (LANFEX) which took place from 2014-2016. Additionally, using both the LANFEX observations and model output, experiments have been performed to further the understanding of how different physical processes impact the formation, development and dissipate of fog in different conditions.
