Academic Background

Dr Aaron Burgess completed his undergraduate degree in psychology with clinical psychology (2010) and Master’s degree in Clinical Research (2014) at the University of Lincoln. Aaron completed his clinical psychology training at the University of East Anglia, gaining his doctorate in 2019. Before training, Aaron worked in the private sector supporting children with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders. Since qualifying as a clinical psychologist, Aaron has continued to work in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders, mainly Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, in the NHS. Aaron worked briefly within an adult eating disorder service in the NHS after qualifying. Aaron is interested in the comorbidity of mental health disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders and how interventions need or can to be adapted for patients and their families. This is Aaron’s first year at UEA as a clinical tutor and his main role will include being an advisor for trainees, teaching, assessment of trainees and developing competency assessment of trainees during their clinical practice placements.
